GP2 – Gasly excluded from C1 at Hockenheim

Pierre Gasly was excluded from Race 1 of the GP2 Series at Hockenheim (Germany) even though he took third place behind Sergey Siroktin (ART Grand Prix) and Luca Ghiotto (Trident).

La car of the resident of Red Bull Junior Team was checked after the race with an empty fire extinguisher. The Championship leader saw this element empty during the event while he was in full recovery.

Raffaele Marciello (Russian Time) inherits the podium ahead of Arthur Pic (Rapax) and Oliver Rowland (MP Motorsport).

The penalty is double for the Frenchman since he will start from the back of the grid in the sprint race while it is Antonio Giovinazzi (Prema Racing) who takes pole ahead of Alex Lynn (Dams).

Pierre Gasly retains the lead in the Championship but only has a six-point lead over the winner of the day.
