Antonio Giovinazzi took pole for Race 1 of the GP2 Series at Spa-Francorchamps (Belgium) by completing a lap in 1'56''607 with a tenth ahead of his teammate Pierre Gasly, Prema Racing placing its two single-seaters on the front row.
The resident of Red Bull Junior Team can console itself since its direct rival Sergey Sirotkin (ART Grand Prix) with whom it shares the lead in the Championship only took 13th position, failing 1''3 from pole while the Russian signed the best test time.
Gustav Malja (Rapax) and Norman Nato (Racing Engineering) will start on the second row ahead of Jordan King (Racing Engineering) and Arthur Pic (Rapax). Raffaele Marciello (Russian Time) and Alex Lynn (Dams) will start on the fourth row ahead of Nobuharu Matsushita (ART Grand Prix) and Marvin Kirchhöfer (Carlin).
