GP2: Jakes confirms

For this third and final day of testing in the GP2 Series at Le Castellet, James Jakes (Super Nova Racing) was at ease, like on Wednesday, where he set the best time of the day during the morning session. This Thursday, the Briton did it again, for the last day of testing of the year. In the first session, Jakes was the fastest (1:12:516), ahead of Jules Bianchi (ART Grand Prix), Formula 3 Euro Series champion, by less than seven hundredths (1:12:584). ). Behind the two men follow Stefano Coletti (DAMS), Jérôme d?Ambrosio (Fat Burner Racing Eng.) and William Bratt (PartyPokerRacing.com).

In the afternoon session, it was Oliver Turvey (iSport International) who stood out. The Briton, winner this season in Monaco in Formula Renault 3.5 Series, came within five hundredths of the time set in the morning by James Jakes. Turvey beat Stefano Coletti (DAMS), Sam Bird (Fat Burner), William Bratt (PartyPokerRacing.com) and Antonio Felix da Costa (Ocean Racing Technology). As for Charles Pic (ART Grand Prix), he was only able to set the twentieth time, as in the morning.

Over the whole week, however, it was Michael Herck who kept the best time. The Romanian, at the wheel of the car DPR, had signed an astonishing 1 on Tuesday afternoon. This Thursday, the third day of testing marked the end of the GP12 Series winter tests. The teams entered in the GP271 Asia Series will return to competition in February, in Abu Dhabi. As for the next GP2 test session in Europe, it is scheduled for the end of March, still in Le Castellet.
