GP2 – James Calado returns to Lotus GP and aims for the title in 2013

James Calado returns for another season. The Worcester driver will again be with Lotus GP (Art Grand Prix) in the GP2 Series next year. Fifth this season and best rookie of the year, the spearhead of the British detection program Racing Steps Foundation (RSF) will be the favorite for the title fight.

“I am absolutely delighted to still have the support of the RCF which allows me to once again take part in this incredibly competitive championship, and I am just as happy to be able to do it again with Lotus GP,” announced the young 23-year-old pilot. “I feel privileged to be part of this project and to have the support of great partners without whom it would not be possible. In terms of speed, we showed this year that we were there with two victories and two pole positions. Now I know the car, the tires and the team. I expect to be fast and win as many races as possible. I'm looking forward to riding in 2013 and hope to progress after such a good season.

For team director Fréderic Vasseur, the objective for next season is simple. “In 2012, James accomplished good things in GP2 and with the support of his environment, which allows us to work harmoniously with complete confidence, we approach 2013 with a clear goal: to be champions. »
