GP2 – Matsushita extends at ART GP

Nobuharu Matsushita will compete in his 3rd season in a row in the GP2 Series, continuing to compete in ART Grand Prix. After securing three podiums and a victory in the first year, the Japanese achieved further success in 2016 while showing more consistency to finish in 11th place in the Drivers' standings.

“It’s a fantastic team that helped me evolve in a new environment, explained the 2014 champion of the F3 Japanese. They also allowed me to score my first victory and my first podiums in my rookie season. I hope to give them more success this year to help them fight for the title. I would also like to thank Honda for giving me this opportunity. »

“Since his first steps in GP2 in Europe, he has shown himself to be dedicated and motivated and he was quickly able to adapt to a new culture and a new environment., argued Sébastien Philippe, the ART GP team manager. Our collaboration was very fruitful from his first year in the team since “Nobu” won two victories including that of Monaco. He concluded the last season with a podium at Yas Marina (2nd in Race 2) and I am sure he will approach the new year with the same motivation to be at the front and be a title contender. »

ART Grand Prix concluded the 2016 financial year in 4th place in the Teams ranking with Sergey Sirotkin as second driver. The French team still needs to complete its crew for 2017.
