GP2 – Stanaway concludes with the best time in practice

Richie Stanaway (Status GP) set the fastest GP2 Series test time at the Yas Marina circuit in Abu Dhabi by completing a lap in 1'48"441 on the super soft tyres, beating by four tenths the performance of Pierre Gasly (Dams) achieved on the first day.

After training mainly on long relays during the second day, the drivers pushed the pace on the last day. If the session was interrupted twice during the first part following stops on track by Artem Markelov and Mitch Evans (Russian Time), Alexander Red (Racing Engineering) caused another red flag when leaving the track at turn 8. The drivers sought to improve at the end of the session, but stops by Zoel Amberg (Lazarus) and Sergey Sirotkin (Rapax) prevented the competitors from progressing.

Si Pierre Gasly did not finish the tests with the best time, the Frenchman still improved his performance by being closest to Richie Stanaway with a little more than a tenth behind. Mitch Evans, Raffaele Marciello (Trident) and Alexander Rossi also beat the first day's benchmark.
