Maximilian Günther (BWT Arden) took his first victory in F2 by winning the sprint race at Silverstone (Great Britain). The German had to resist Nyck de Vries (Prema Theodore Racing) for much of the race, but the Dutchman fell down the standings in the final laps and was only able to cross the finish line in seventh place.
George Russell (ART GP) was the first to take advantage and even threatened the leader by finishing just half a second from first place. The local driver took the advantage over his compatriot Lando Norris (Carlin) who completes the podium and can thus further increase his lead in the Championship, all after starting from seventh place.
Lando Norris, however, almost lost everything while battling with Antonio Fuoco (Charouz Racing). The Italian pushed down the Briton who had no choice but to hit his rival while returning to the track. The latter retired and was penalized for the collision.
