The BMW i Andretti double in race 2 in Riyadh did not last long. For overtaking under a safety car, Maximilian Günther, second behind his teammate and winner Alexander Sims, received a 24″ penalty on his race time, thus falling beyond the top 10.

A sanction which brings Lucas di Grassi (Audi Sport Abt Schaeffler) back into second position, and Stoffel Vandoorne (Mercedes) in third place. The Belgian thus offers a second consecutive podium to the German brand, debutant in Formula E This year.
Jean-Eric Vergne (DS Techeetah) also took advantage of this sanction to enter the top 10 and score a point.
