Günther penalized in Riyadh, Vandoorne on the podium

Sanctioned for overtaking under safety car regime, Maximilian Günther lost his podium in Riyadh to Stoffel Vandoorne.

Günther penalized in Riyadh, Vandoorne on the podium

The BMW i Andretti double in race 2 in Riyadh did not last long. For overtaking under a safety car, Maximilian Günther, second behind his teammate and winner Alexander Sims, received a 24″ penalty on his race time, thus falling beyond the top 10.

 

 

A sanction which brings Lucas di Grassi (Audi Sport Abt Schaeffler) back into second position, and Stoffel Vandoorne (Mercedes) in third place. The Belgian thus offers a second consecutive podium to the German brand, debutant in Formula E This year.

Jean-Eric Vergne (DS Techeetah) also took advantage of this sanction to enter the top 10 and score a point.
