HWA unveils its colors and names Gary Paffett for the 2018-19 season

The stables of Formula e have launched the announcement period ahead of the 2018-19 Formula e season. After BMW, DS ou Virgin these last two weeks, it’s the turn of HWA AG to reveal its colors as well as the identity of one of its two pilots. It will be about Gary Paffettchampion DTM in 2005 and at the top of the general ranking of the German competition before the final in Hockenheim (October 12-14).

The Briton, aged 37, will be one of the veterans of the electric series whose departure will be given in Saudi Arabia on December 15. Alone Felipe Massa, engaged with Venturi, has the same age. “This will be the first time in 15 years that I have changed disciplines, says Gary Paffett, official driver Mercedes in DTM. It will be a huge challenge, for the team and for me. »

Gary Paffett had already driven single-seaters in the mid-2000s, when he was a test driver for McLaren, or a few years later, in 2012, as a reserve driver for Force India.

“La Fe is a promising championship, with great prospects. It’s totally different from DTM and has nothing to do with anything I’ve seen before. We will have to adapt to the weekend format”, he warns.

The HWA stable is officially named HWA Racelab. The team principal of the structure is Ulrich Fritz, coming from the Mercedes-AMG program in DTM. HWA is none other than Mercedes’ right arm in DTM.

La car electric will be a Venturi VFE-05 Gen2, fruit of the technical association between the two entities. The colors represent the stylistic identity of HWA Racelab, carbon and dark blue.
