IndyCar – Bryan Herta Autosport hires Gabby Chaves

Winner of Indy Lights Series last year on the car Belardi Auto Racing, Colombian Gabby Chaves will compete this season in the premier discipline of American single-seaters, on the DW12-Honda n°98 of Bryan Herta Autosport. The 21-year-old driver will replace the Briton Jack Hawksworth, who committed on the second car entered by AJ Foyt Racing.

“His speed and feel were very impressive, says Bryan Herta. Gabby has the skills and spirit to make a real impact in IndyCar. I don't see why Gabby shouldn't be a serious contender for Rookie of the Year. Recent history has shown that the best drivers promoted from Indy Lights have moved to IndyCar with great success. We have had the opportunity to work with some young drivers over the past two years and we believe we have an excellent environment to support their development and achieve excellent results. »

“It’s been an incredible journey and to finally become an IndyCar driver, continues Chaves, who joins the lineage of Colombian drivers entered last year in IndyCar: Juan-Pablo Montoya, Sebastian Saavedra, Carlos Huertas and the 2014 Rookie of the Year, Carlos Munoz. It's a great feeling and the start of a great period. »

Following the cancellation of the inaugural round of the 2015 IndyCar Series, scheduled for Brasilia on March 8, it is on the Florida route of St Petersburg (March 27-29), that Gabby Chaves will start this year.
