Indycar – Pagenaud once again lacked success in Toronto

For the fourth time this season, simon pagenaud had managed to climb to the front of the line at the end of qualifying. This is his ninth top five finish in ten rounds contested since the start of the year. Suffice it to say that the speed is there, it’s undeniable. But the Canadian race once again ended with a result below Poitevin's expectations. However, it had started off ideally: Simon was in fact staying in the exhausts of leader Will Power during the first thirty laps contested in the rain. Except that the course of events did not turn out in his favor, so much so that the new member of the Penske team, stuck in traffic, could do no better than eleventh in the end. A performance which earned him tenth place in the provisional championship ranking.

“Tough day for the No. 22 Avaya Chevy team, he confessed afterwards. We had a car that showed great potential to aim for victory today. Unfortunately, I lost many positions during the restart trying to compete with Will Power. I knew I had an excellent car Between hands. It was time to fight for victory. The Toronto circuit is a place where race position is very important. Once we found ourselves in traffic, our situation unfortunately became more difficult. »

Next meeting now, June 27 in California, for a confrontation on the Auto Club Speedway oval.
