IndyCar – Ryan Briscoe recovering from injury

The accident was not very impressive but its consequences were serious. Ryan Briscoe fractured his right wrist, in Toronto this weekend, during the first of the two scheduled races. A fracture which was caused when the Panther Racing driver was surprised by the return of his steering wheel when his wheels hit the safety rail. Two days after this trip, the organizers of the IndyCar Series bring reassuring news from the Australian: his surgical operation went well.

Doctor Kévin Scheid, the orthopedic consultant for the IndyCar Series, took care of the operation. A small plate and screws were placed on the distal radius of the injured man's right wrist. Before deciding on his return to competition, Ryan Briscoe must be examined twice more by the end of the month. “A big thank you to all of the Indiana Orthopedic Hospital for their warm welcome and the speed of their operation”, said the pilot. “Everyone at the hospital and all the IndyCar medical staff did a great job taking care of me and I can't thank them enough. I feel good and I can’t wait to get back behind the wheel.”
