IndyCar – Simon Pagenaud: “Everything will be decided in the last race”

Currently 4e of the championship IndyCar 17 points behind leader Josef Newgarden, his teammate at Penske, simon pagenaud maintains its title hopes with four races remaining in the season.

« We will have to be very strong in Sonoma, explains the Frenchman. Taking pole and winning the race gives you the championship I think. We're going to have to pull out all the stops for the last four races to get through them. These four races will give a real idea of the leader, but everything will be decided at the very last."

In a very open season with nine winners in thirteen races, Pagenaud does not consider himself handicapped by his record of only one victory although the points system favors victories over consistency in the top 5.

« We have to be satisfied with being in the race for the title with four races remaining. I won last year so why not? We're going to give it our all in the end. I found my rhythm again but the competition is tough. There are a lot of guys at the top of their game."

The next Indycar event will be at the Pocono oval on August 20.
