Takuma Sato makes history. By winning this Sunday at the Long Beach Grand Prix aboard his No. 12 DW14-Honda, the AJ Foyt Racing driver claimed his first victory in Indycar after 52 starts. Better still, he became the first Japanese to win a race in this category. “It was just a perfect weekend to be honest”, commented the main person concerned just after his feat, he who had a second place in Edmonton in 2012 as his best result to date.

Japan has had such a complicated time after the earthquake, I am really happy to offer everyone the opportunity to wake up to some positive news. » In F1 from 2002 until 2008, Takuma Sato had already made his country's history by becoming the second Japanese in history to reach a podium, after Aguri Suzuki in 1990. It was in 2004 during the United States Grand Prix, which he finished in third position. A repeated feat last year by Kamui Kobayashi, who now defends the colors of Ferrari en Endurance.
