IndyCar – Watkins Glen replaces Boston

A few days ago, the Boston event, scheduled for September 4, was canceled according to statements from Massachusetts developers and media. The officials of IndyCar Series had, however, weighed these remarks, explaining that they were looking “more details before responding in due time. It is still too early for IndyCar to comment further on the situation in Boston or seek an alternative event. »

However, events accelerated significantly this Friday since the American series confirmed the replacement of the Boston round with a return to the legendary Watkins Glen track. The New York state track that hosted the Formula 1 and constitutes one of the road tests in Nascar Sprint Cup Series, had already featured prominently in IndyCar rounds between 1979 and 1981 then between 2005 and 2010.

The race will take place over 60 laps of the route with a development of 5,471 km. It was on this track that Justin Wilson gave Dale Coyne Racing his very first victory in the series in 2009.
