IndyCar – Will Power on pole at Sonoma

Will Power (Team Penske) won its 6th pole of the season at the Sonoma GP (California) where the season finale will be played this August 30 where double points will be awarded. The Australian clocked a time of 1'16"259, improving his 2014 record. This is the 5th time in six years that the reigning champion has won qualifying on this road circuit where he has won 3 times .

Joseph Newgarden (CFH Racing) was the closest with a tenth behind, preceding Ryan Hunter Reay (Andretti Autosport) and the Penske drivers simon pagenaud and the leader of the Championship Juan Pablo Montoya. The Colombian is the favorite for the title but he must not make the slightest mistake since his direct rival Graham rahal (Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing) will start right behind him.

Scott Dixon (Chip Ganassi Racing), another title contender in this final, will start from 9th position behind Charlie kimball (Chip Ganassi Racing) and Marco Andretti (Andretti Autosport).

Sébastien Bourdais (KVSH Racing) took 16th position on the grid while Tristan Vautier (Dale Coyne Racing) is 23rd.

Oriol Servia (Andretti Autosport), the friend of Justin Wilson who drives the car of the Briton who died on August 24, set the 19th time.
