Alex Palou at Chip Ganassi in 2021

Chip Ganassi Racing announced Thursday that Spaniard Alex Palou will pilot the No. 10 Honda in 2021 alongside 2020 champion Scott Dixon, Jimmie Johnson and Marcus Ericsson. He replaces Felix Rosenqvist who left for Arrow McLaren. After a Super Formula season punctuated by a victory, Alex Palou revealed himself during the Indianapolis 500 where he managed to enter the top 9 in qualifying.

In 2020 he completed his first season in the North American championship with Dale Coyne Racing and while he finished an anonymous 16th place in the championship, he gleaned a first podium at Road America.

“It’s just a dream come true.” I have followed the team forever and it’s the kind of team that every driver wants to join,” reacted Alex Palou.

The Spaniard received praise from Mike Hull, the team's manager. “I love watching young drivers grow. This year was very difficult for rookies like Alex who did not have the opportunity to view the tracks in advance or test the car. With this context, he did an excellent job. He has something beyond talent that makes him truly special. »
