Alexander Rossi Imperial at Road America

Alexander Red (Andretti Autosport – Honda) dominated the Road America (Wisconsin) event head and shoulders in IndyCar Series this Sunday evening.

The American took the advantage from the start of the race over pole sitter Colton Herta (Harding Steinbrenner Racing – Honda) before methodically widening the gap on his pursuers, Herta acting as a stopper for a time against the two Team Penske drivers – Chevrolet Will Power and Josef Newgarden.

The latter were unable to do anything in terms of pure rhythm against Rossi, winner with more than 28″ ahead of the finish line over Power and more than 31″ over Newgarden. Graham Rahal (Team RLL – Honda) finished 4th after struggling in the second half of the race against Herta.

The fight for places of honor pitted Colton Herta against Scott Dixon, Felix Rosenqvist (Chip Ganassi Racing – Honda) and James Hinchliffe (SPM – Honda) in the final moments.

Pole sitter Herta, who had already lost time during his first stop, with refueling visibly complicated for the mechanics of the #12 DW88, suffered with his soft tires in the final loops.

Then 5th, driver Harding Steinbrenner was unable to do anything against Hinchcliffe, Dixon, and Rosenqvist who were faster with their tires. But ultimately it was the Ganassi drivers who did the best with Dixon 5th and Rosenqvist 6th. Dixon is back in the standings after a spin caused by contact with Ryan Hunter-Reay (Andretti Autosport) on the opening lap.

James Hinchcliffe follows in 7th position ahead of Colton Herta, simon pagenaud (Team Penske) and Takuma Sato (Team RLL) who complete the top 10. The Frenchman lost time in contact with Colton Herta, going off-course, and notably seeing Scott Dixon overtake him.

Sébastien Bourdais (Dale Coyne Racing with Vasser Sullivan – Honda) finished 12th.
