Alonso plans to return to Indy 500

Fernando Alonso made a brilliant debut at the Indy 500. After taking 5th position on the grid for the 101st edition, the driver McLaren-Honda-Andretti fought at the front, leading for 25 laps before having to retire 20 laps from the finish following an engine failure.

Despite the disappointment of not seeing the checkered flag at the Indy 500, Fernando Alonso does not seem to have lost the “Triple Crown” (victory at Monaco, Indianapolis and Le Mans) as his objective.

“I definitely plan to come back, assures Fernando Alonso. At least if I come back here I'll know what to expect. I won't experience restarts, pit stops, all that kind of stuff. It will therefore be easier to adapt. We'll see what the next few years have in store for me. I have to keep trying to meet this challenge because the Indy 500 victory is still missing. »

Fernando Alonso even seems enthusiastic about the potential he displayed on the Indianapolis oval.

“I know I can be as fast as anyone behind the wheel of a F1, but I didn't know if that would be the case in IndyCar, recognizes Fernando Alonso. It was nice to feel competitive leading the Indy 500.”

Fernando Alonso will return to the F1 paddock after having to miss the Monaco GP on the weekend of June 11 for the Canadian Grand Prix.
