Bourdais takes pole in Phoenix

Sébastien Bourdais (Dale Coyne Racing with Vasser-Sullivan) once again has an incredible start to the season. After his astonishing victory in St Petersburg (Florida) on March 11, the four-time Champ Car champion took pole at the ISM Raceway in Phoenix (Arizona), a 1,022 mile oval.

The Frenchman claimed the 34th pole of his career by completing a lap at an average speed of 188,539mph (around 303km/h).

The starting grid looks great since his compatriot simon pagenaud (Team Penske) was the closest, finishing seven hundredths behind. The Penske drivers regained performance as confirmed by Will Power's third position. reigning champion Josef Newgarden occupies seventh position.

In fourth place is the winner of the 100th edition of Indy 500 Alexander Red which we find ahead of James Hinchcliffe and the rookie Robert Wickens who came close to victory in his first round in IndyCar. For his debut in the discipline, Pietro Fittipaldi (Dale Coyne Racing) took a promising tenth place. Scott Dixon (Chip Ganassi Racing), however, was further behind, only taking 17th position.
