Castroneves makes Dixon win

Helio Castroneves (team Penske), despite its victory at Barber Motorsports Park in Alabama, is not having a very fulfilling season. Sixth in the general classificationIndyCar Series, the Brazilian is almost out of the race for the title. This Sunday, in Edmonton, however, he almost got back on track. But, for having wanted victory too strongly, the three-time winner of the Indy 500 was penalized.

Everything came down to the last restart. Will Power (team Penske), then second, tried to get on the outside of the Brazilian, who did not give in, in turn n°1. Widening his trajectory to maintain his position against the leader of the general classification, Castroneves slowed down Power and retained his first place.

Scott Dixon, third until then, took advantage of the duel between the Penske team drivers to take second position. At the finish line, Castroneves beat Dixon and Power, winning his second race of the season. But, very quickly, the Brazilian was penalized for hindering Power, ultimately finishing in tenth place.

Very annoyed, Castroneves expressed his feelings to the race management, who were inflexible. “ It?s completely ridiculous, explains Castroneves. I didn't move from my line. This decision is absurd. (?) However, I would like to apologize for my behavior after the race. »

In fact, Helio Castroneves fell to tenth place in the Edmonton race, leaving victory to Scott Dixon. Will Power, second, another good deal, inexorably approaching the title of Champion. With six races remaining, his lead allows him to have a joker.
