Colton Herta finishes first in COTA testing

His best time of the first day in 1'46 "625 (established during the second session on Tuesday) will ultimately not have been beaten. Colton Herta (Harding-Steinbrenner Racing – Honda) thus concludes the two days of testing on Tuesday and Wednesday at COTA in Texas with the time reference for these pre-season runs, the only ones before the opening of the championship on March 10 in St Petersburg, Florida.

Once again the most energetic yesterday morning in the United States, the son of Bryan Herta however left the spotlight at the end of the day to Alexander Red (Andretti Autosport – Honda), author of the top time in the fourth session in 1’46″853, more than two tenths of Herta’s time.

In the cumulative ranking, Herta therefore precedes the 500 Indy 2016 winner, the two drivers being the only ones to go below the 1’47” per lap mark. The top 5 is completed by Will Power (Team Penske), first representative of the Chevrolet clan, Ryan Hunter-Reay (Andretti Autosport) and simon pagenaud (Team Penske).

Before his first official and full campaign with Chip Ganassi Racing – Honda, Felix Rosenqvist finished in 7th place ahead of Graham Rahal (Team RLL – Honda) and Scott Dixon (Chip Ganassi Racing). Sébastien Bourdais places his DW12 – Honda n°18 from Dale Coyne Racing with Vasser-Sullivan in 18th place.

The drivers, who will return to competition at COTA on March 24, have accumulated 2367 laps in two days of driving.
