This announcement comes in order to counter the spread of the coronavirus epidemic in the United States. “After a detailed study, including regular discussions with the respective promoters, Health officials and cities hosting our races regarding Covid-19, we have made the decision to cancel all IndyCar meetings until the end of April, says the press release.
Although we are disappointed to delay the start of this IndyCar season, and we will miss the fans, the safety of spectators, staff, partners and media will always remain our priority.
We will continue to work in coordination with public health experts and U.S. government officials to determine appropriate plans to resume our program. »
As a reminder, the St Petersburg Grand Prix was to take place from March 13 to 15, the Barber event from April 3 to 5, the Long Beach meeting from April 17 to 19 and the meeting on the Circuit of the Americas ( COTA) in Austin, April 24-26.
The campaign will therefore not begin before the Indianapolis Grand Prix, from May 7 to 9 next, on the infield where simon pagenaud (Penske) won in 2019.
