Derrick walker will no longer be president of competition and operations IndyCar Series. Arriving in this position in 2013, he will leave his position on August 31, the day after the season finale in Sonoma, California, in order to pursue other professional opportunities.
“I enjoyed the opportunity to work closely with the team owners, drivers and IndyCar, explains the 70-year-old Scot. After two and a half seasons, I think the time is right to move on. »
“We benefited from Derrick’s extensive racing experience. We will miss his tireless efforts and passion for IndyCar, said Mark Miles, CEO of Hulman & Company, parent company of the IndyCar Series. We appreciate the thoughtful way in which Derrick has planned the transition and wish him well in his future endeavors. » A replacement is currently being sought by the series.
Before joining the American championship, Walker was widely involved in motorsport, notably through Walker Racing, or as Team Manager of Ed Carpenter Racing when it was created in 2012, before it merged with Sarah Fisher Hartman Racing to give birth to CFH Racing this season.
