Ed Carpenter feels ready to conquer the Indy 500

Ed Carpenter is preparing to compete in the Indianapolis 500 where he will start on pole alongside Carlos Munoz and Marco Andretti. The Andretti Autosport driver once again distinguished himself on ovals after winning last year in the Championship final at Fontana. The American did not seek the best times during the Carb Day since he was satisfied with the 17th time. “We had planned to do between 20 and 25 laps, but the car was handling well and we stopped after 18 laps and a few stops. It was mainly about getting ready for Sunday. We will continue to work according to our plans because it worked for us last weekend. We drove with the race settings until Friday. »

The pole sitter at the Indianapolis 500 seems confident for the race where he will aim for his first victory for his tenth participation after securing a fifth place (his best result) in 2008. “I think we have a car competitive and conditions should be similar this Sunday. I am convinced that we have all the tools to prevail. We have already won the last 500 Miles at Fontana and we know we can do it. We just have to follow our plan. It's easy to get excited with these kinds of cars, but I just have to stay calm and be ready to have a strong race. »
