Eight former winners at the start of the 500 Indianapolis 2020

Even behind closed doors, the spectacle of the Indianapolis 500 (Indiana, August 23) will be high-level. L'IndyCar has revealed the entry list for the 2020 edition, with the presence of eight former winners on the Brickyard.

Obviously, the defending champion Simon Pagenaud (Penske) will defend his crown of laurels. He will have to fight in particular against the New Zealander Scott Dixon (Chip Ganassi, winner in 2008) and the Americans Ryan Hunter-Reay (Andretti, 2014), Alexander Rossi (Andretti, 2016), as well as the veterans Tony Kanaan (AJ Foyt , 2013) and Helio Castroneves (Penske). 

The latter will also try to equal AJ Foyt, Al Unser and Rick Mears with a fourth success after 2001, 2002 and 2009. Takuma Sato (Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing, 2017) and Will Power (Penske, 2018) will be present. 

For the third time, Fernando Alonso (Arrow McLaren SP) will attempt to add the 500 Miles to his record. He will team up with debutants Oliver Askew and Pato O'Ward. Three other rookies are announced: Alex Palou, Dalton Kellett and Rinus VeeKay. The Dutchman will pay tribute to his compatriot Arie Luyendyk, victorious in 1990, with a two-tone helmet:

The British Max Chilton (Carlin) for his part decided to literally affix the visual of the Borg-Warner Trophy, the cup awarded each year to the winner:

Finally, Marcus Ericsson (Chip Ganassi Racing) will celebrate his youth idol and compatriot Ronnie Peterson:

Of the 33 participants, some did not obtain their entry ticket.
