Colombian Gabby Chaves will compete in the Indianapolis 500 next May under the banner of a new structure, Harding Racing.

Indy 500 – Gabby Chaves with Harding Racing

Engaged in six rounds of the 2016 season, including the Indy 500, under the colors of Dale Coyne Racing – Honda, Gabby Chavez had not found a full-time driver for the 2017 campaign.

The Colombian, 2014 Indy Lights champion with Belardi Auto Racing, will however be at the start of the legendary Indianapolis 500 mile event on May 28. The 2015 Rookie of the Year will be aligned with la car No. 88 powered by Chevrolet and entered under the Harding Racing banner, created by the alliance between Mike Harding, of Harding Group and Dennis Reinbold, of Dreyer & Reinbold Racing.

“I am very excited to join a new team with our new owner, Mike Harding, and everyone involved, including Larry Curry, who helped bring the team together and will lead it. » comments Chaves who will make his third start at the Indy 500, for a 16th place in 2015 (and the title of Rookie of the edition) and a 20th position last year.

Al Unser Jr. will be involved in the structure as driving coach, while Matt Curry, Tony Kanaan's chief engineer at KV Racing Technology during his Indy 500 victory in 2013, will be head of engineering.
