Indy 500 – James Davison, 33rd declared competitor

As tradition dictates, there will be only 33 single-seaters at the start of the 103rd edition of the Indy 500 on May 26. However, this morning, Dale Coyne Racing announced the entry of a third Dallara DW12-Honda – which will sport the number 33 – for James Davison. The 32-year-old Australian will therefore have Frenchman Sébastien as his teammate. Bourdais and the American Santino Ferrucci.

2009 Indy Lights runner-up, Davison has a total of four starts at the American classic between 2014 and 2018, one with KV Racing, two with Dale Coyne Racing and one with Belardi. He owes his participation to a partnership between the American team Byrd-Hollinger-Belardi with whom he rode last year. He had to retire due to contact after only 45 laps.

« We are excited to have James return to the team for the Indy 500, rejoices owner Dale Coyne. He had replaced Sébastien at the last minute (Bourdais. Editor's note) two years ago and did a great job given the circumstances. »

If other drivers announce themselves at the start, which is very likely, there will be some disappointed people at the end of Bump Day.
