Indy 500 – James Davison confirmed to replace Bourdais

James Davison has been confirmed on the No. 12 DW18-Honda for the Indy 500 on May 28 with Dale Coyne Racing. The 23-year-old Australian will replace Sébastien Bourdais crashed during the first qualifying session and will return to the team with which he took 16th place in 2015 in the biggest American race for his second start.

“My thoughts go to Sébastien and Claire Bourdais, said James Davison. A driver never likes to get a drive at Indy 500 under these circumstances. That being said, I am very much looking forward to the challenge. The first objective will be to ensure a good result for the team, Sébastien and the sponsors. »

James Davison will have to get his bearings again with theIndyCar and will be behind the wheel of his mount from Monday for the next test session organized this Monday, May 22.

“It is never easy to replace an injured driver, but the most important thing is that Sébastien makes a full recovery and we will be ready for his return, added Dal Coyne, the owner of the stable of the same name. We have worked with James in the past and he did a great job with us. He is therefore used to the team and he knows our way of working. The decision was therefore simple to make. »
