Indy 500 – Kurt Busch will use a reserve car

Ninth practice session yesterday on the Indianapolis 500 oval, and the yellow flag is displayed. For the second time since the start of testing after JAck Hawksworth (Bryan Herta Autosport – Honda), a driver made a mistake. It was Kurt Busch (Andretti Autosport – Honda) who just hit the wall at the exit of turn 2. The shock was violent, the DW12 partly destroyed, but the current driver Stewart-Haas Racing in NASCAR Sprint Series extracts itself from its car. After a quick check-up at the medical center, Busch was released. “I was starting to feel comfortable. That’s when I made the mistake of just letting my guard down and mentally settling into a long run. With an Indy car you have to be on the edge all the time, Busch said. You need to remember where you are at all times and the car's adjustments. I tried to find my rhythm like I would on race day. It's best to have an accident at the start of the week, get back in your car and get back on track. »

Michael Andretti's team, however, announced that the repairs would not be completed before Sunday. As a result, Busch will use the reserve car normally assigned to Marco Andretti, and will start from 12th place on Sunday. He will also race the same day in the Coca-Cola 600 in NASCAR.
