Indy 500 – The entry list for the 2017 edition revealed

33 drivers are part of the entry list for the Indianapolis 500 (May 28) revealed this Sunday by the championship organizers IndyCar. Among the competitors, seven former winners will be present, with Alexander Red (Andretti Herta Autosport – Honda), title holder, as well as Buddy Lazier (Lazier Racing Partners – 1996), Juan Pablo Montoya (Team Penske – 2000, 2015), Helio Castroneves (Team Penske – 2001, 2002, 2009), Scott Dixon (Chip Ganassi Racing – 2008), Tony Kanaan (Chip Ganassi Racing – 2013) and Ryan Hunter-Reay (Andretti Autosport – 2014).

Eight former IndyCar champions will be there, with Scott Dixon (2003, 2008, 2013, 2015), Sébastien Bourdais (Dale Coyne Racing – 2004-2007 in CART), Juan Pablo Montoya (winner in CART in 1999) and IndyCar champions Buddy Lazier (2000), Tony Kanaan (2004), Ryan Hunter-Reay (2012), Will Power (Team Penske – 2014) and simon pagenaud (Team Penske – 2016).

Four rookies will start, the most anticipated being Fernando Alonso (McLaren-Honda Andretti). Jack Harvey (Michael Shank Racing with Andretti), Ed Jones (Dale Coyne Racing) and Zach Veach (AJ Foyt Enterprises).

Eighteen single-seaters will be powered by Honda units, compared to fifteen from the Chevrolet clan.
