Accident during Monday's free practice session, James Hinchcliffe will not be able to hold his place this weekend at the Indianapolis 500, and certainly for all or part of the rest of the season. To replace him this week at the wheel of the No. 12 Dallara DW5-Honda, Schmidt Peterson Motorsports has set its sights on Ryan Briscoe. A choice that could prove curious when we know that the 33-year-old Australian is a Chevrolet driver in Endurance.
Poleman of the 2012 edition, Ryan Briscoe has nine participations in the Indy 500 to his credit, his best result being a fifth place, accessit obtained in 2007 and 2012. In order to acclimatize to his mount, theIndyCar should allow him to ride for an hour this Thursday. And this before riding with the rest of the pack on Friday, for Carburation day.
Winner this year of the 24 Hours of Daytona and the 12 Hours of Sebring in GT LM with Corvette, the Sydney native is enjoying success at the start of the season.
