Will Power set the benchmark time on the second day of Indy 500 testing by completing a lap in 40 at an average speed of 0613mph. The times did not change due to the strong wind present on the track, but the session took place without incident to report.
The 2014 champion is aiming for a first success in the biggest American race after finishing in second place in 2015.

We've been here twice to test and we know we're using our package as best as possible. I also know that Chevrolet has worked very hard and we can already see good speeds. »
His teammate Helio Castroneves was the closest with 6 hundredths behind. Gabby Chaves (Harding Racing) completed the top three, one tenth of the benchmark, ahead of Ryan Hunter-Reay (Andretti Autosport) and Sage Karam (Dreyer & Reinbold Racing). simon pagenaud (Team Penske) finished 8th behind Takuma Sato (Andretti Autosport) and Mikhail Aleshin (Schmidt Peterson Motorsports). Sebastian Bourdais (Dale Coyne Racing) finished 16th, 4 tenths behind.
Fernando Alonso concluded the day in 24th place, more than 6 tenths behind Will Power's time, notably by practicing maneuvering in traffic.

Indy 500 testing will resume this Wednesday, May 17 and continue until this Friday before qualifying takes over this weekend.
