Indy500 – Marco Andretti dominates FP1

After the Indianapolis Grand Prix, won last weekend by the Frenchman simon pagenaud (Team Penske – Chevrolet), the competitors of IndyCar Series have started the first free practice sessions for the Indianapolis 500, on the legendary American oval, which will host its 100th edition on May 29.

For these first runs, the team Andretti Autosport took the lead with a hat-trick of single-seaters powered by the Japanese block. Marco Andretti was the fastest, completing a lap in 39 seconds at an average speed of 305 km/h.

Carlos Munoz follows his teammate at 5 thousandths while Ryan Hunter-Reay, winner in 2014, completes the top three at 162 thousandths from Andretti. Fourth place for rookie Alexander Red (Andretti Herta-Honda).

Scott Dixon (Chip Ganassi Racing) places first car Chevrolet in 5th place at 371 thousandths. Will Power (Team Penske – Chevrolet) is the best representative of Roger Penske's clan in 9th position while Simon Pagenaud ranks 16th, three ranks behind Juan Pablo Montoya. Sebastian Bourdais (KVSH Racing – Chevrolet) finished 22nd.
