IndyCar – 2016 will toughen Marco Andretti

The balance sheet is clear: after eleven rounds and twelve races contested this season in IndyCar Series, the motorized teams benefiting from the Honda aerodynamic kit only pocketed one success, but undoubtedly the most important, to the credit of Alexander Red at the Indianapolis 500.

The former Marussia resident F1 which competes under the colors of Andretti Herta Autosport, brought a prestigious victory to the Honda clan, clearly dominated by the Chevrolet single-seaters in the other championship events.

A difficult situation, particularly for Marco Andretti, who expected a lot from this 2016 campaign with his father Michael Andretti's team. A ninth place in the second race of the double header in Detroit (Michigan) remains the American driver's best result.

“At the moment we are not the best Honda team. And Honda is behind Chevrolet. And Penske is the best Chevrolet team. So it’s like we’re in the fourth class right now, analyzes Andretti.

A tenth place in Toronto seemed like a podium. It's frustrating. You almost have a perfect race and you finish 10th. This is where we are right now. We don't have cars that can go out and win every race like Penske can. Learning to fight is what will toughen me up. »

There are four races left for Marco Andretti and the Honda drivers to try to reverse the trend, the first on the Pocono track in Pennsylvania, where it is precisely a car Andretti Autosport who won with Ryan Hunter-Reay, in tragic circumstances following the death of Justin Wilson.
