IndyCar – Brasilia, a new event in 2015

THEIndyCar will return to Brazil After the Sao Paulo street circuit, organizers announced that Brasilia would host the American single-seater discipline on March 8 at the Autodromo Internacional Nelson Piquet. Brazil has been on the calendar for many years since CART visited the Sao Paulo oval from 1996 to 2000 before returning to an urban route in the same city from 2010 until last year. “We wanted to continue the rich history of competition in Brazil with this announcement”, comments Mark Miles, CEO of Hulman & Company (owner of IndyCar). “This event is a step in the evolution of IndyCar as we continue to add competition markets. »

Tony Kanaan and Helio Castroneves are obviously delighted to see Brazil return to IndyCar from next year. “This is fantastic news! ", rejoices the 2004 champion who won the Indianapolis 500 last year. “Brazilian spectators love IndyCar and we also have Brazilian partners involved in the discipline. I drove the Brazilian circuit (Autodromo Nacional Nelson Piquet) a long time ago, in the early 1990s, but I remember it being a lot of fun. » His compatriot, three-time winner of the Indy 500, who finished vice-champion behind Will Power, shares the same satisfaction. “We are aiming for great times in Brazil. There was already the World Cup a few months ago. The Olympic Games will be in Rio de Janeiro in 2016 and in the meantime we will have the return of IndyCar which will start in 2015.

The Autodromo Internacional Nelson Piquet is the second new event on the program next year after Nola Motorsports Pak in New Orleans (Louisiana).
