IndyCar – Carlos Munoz on pole in Texas

Carlos Munoz (Andretti Autosport) took his first pole in IndyCar. The Colombian won qualifying for the Firestone 600 held at Texas Motor Speedway by completing his two laps at an average speed of 217,137 mph (349,3 km/h).

Scott Dixon (Chip Ganassi Racing) will start alongside him. The reigning champion will thus have a great opportunity to reduce his delay on simon pagenaud (Team Penske), even if the Championship leader still qualified sixth behind Helio Castroneves (Team Penske), Takuma Sato (AJ Foyt Enterprises) and Josef Newgarden (Ed Carpenter Racing).

The Penske drivers are still at their advantage as Will Power will start from seventh, preceding Tony Kanaan (Chip Ganassi Racing), Alexander Red (Andretti Autosport) and James Hinchcliffe (Schmidt Peterson Motorsports).

Sébastien Bourdais (KVSH Racing) was further behind since he only started 18th, just behind Juan Pablo Montoya (Team Penske) who had difficulty setting the pace of his teammates.

The Firestone 600 will be broadcast this Sunday June 12 from 22:15 p.m. on Canal+ Sport.
