IndyCar – Does Castroneves have his chances at Fontana?

While he was well established at the head of the Championship, Helio Castroneves handed over control to Scott Dixon after completely missing the doubleheaders in Houston with only 20 points scored against 94 for the Scot. The double champion finds himself with a lead of 25 units before the final in Fontana. For the eighth time in a row, the title will be decided during the last event of the season. The resident of Chip Ganassi Racing finds himself leader for the fourth time before the final (1st in 2003 and 2008 and 2nd in 2009 against Dario Franchitti).

Helio Castroneves is no longer completely in control of his destiny since Scott Dixon will be assured of the title by finishing in the first five places. “At this moment, I feel that I have nothing more to lose and I have no pressure”, assures the three-time winner of the Indianapolis 500. “You just have to go head on and see what comes out of it. We will seek the best outcome by trying to replicate what we did in Texas. A lot can happen in a 500-mile race that lasts almost three hours. We were very fast in testing and we are really happy with the performance of the car. There car was already effective last year but you have to be ready to make some adjustments when night falls. In any case, I am ready to take all the risks to achieve my goal. »
