Titled driver almost every first season contested in a discipline (Formula BMW Europe, Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0, Formula Renault 3.5, Blancpain GT Series), the Dutchman Robin Frijns continues his career in car after approaching a bucket in F1, being lined up as a test driver at Sauber and Caterham.
Recruited by Michael Andretti to defend the interests of training Andretti Autosport Formula e, Frijns scored a podium for his first season in the 100% electric single-seater championship in Putrajaya, Malaysia.
Renewed for the 2016-2017 season, the native of Maastricht will also benefit from a trial in IndyCar with the American team on July 21 on the Mid-Ohio track. The Indianapolis-based team fields Carlos Munoz, Marco Andretti, Ryan Hunter-Reay this year, while providing assistance on Alexander's car. Red, winner of the Indianapolis 500, entered with Bryan Herta Autosport.
