IndyCar – Ganassi debuts with Chevrolet and Kanaan

Yesterday at Sebring, the four single-seaters of the Chip Ganassi Racing team made their brand new Chevrolet unit roar for the first time. While the Brazilian Tony Kanaan was getting to know his new structure, he was joined by Alex Tagliani? at the wheel of the #12 DW10 – Scott Dixon and Charlie Kimball.

“It's my first day with Ganassi, it still gives me a weird feeling, admitted the champion IndyCar 2004. This team has been very successful and I currently listen more than I speak. But if I can add something to what they already have, that's great. »

Kanaan was at the wheel of the No. 8 Dallara sponsored by NTT Data and could count on his long-time engineer, Eric Cowdin, a defector from KV Racing Technology. The Brazilian, who has been driving with the Chevrolet engine for two seasons, will thus be able to provide information to the Ganassi Racing team. Indeed, the single-seaters of the team led by Chip Ganassi will no longer be powered by Honda next year, a first since 2006?

?It?s a good thing that Tony has already driven the Chevrolet engine, so he won?t need to compare the differences that exist with the Honda unit, admitted Mike Hull, general manager of the Ganassi team. It's a great opportunity for us and it will help us make our car better. »

Alex Tagliani, who was also on track at Sebring, will carry out all of the off-season testing with the Ganassi team's No. 10 car, but he is not guaranteed to be Dario Franchitti's successor for the season. 2014?
