IndyCar – Ganassi reunites with Honda at Sebring

After three seasons contested with the Chevrolet engine, 2017 will mark a significant change for Chip Ganassi Racing with the return to the Honda block. A partnership already seen between the two parties between 2006 and 2013 with five Drivers' titles, two for Scott Dixon and three for Dario Franchitti.

The four cars which will be entered this season for Scott Dixon, Tony Kanaan, Charlie Kimball and Max Chilton were on the track last Thursday at Sebring in Florida. The opportunity to familiarize yourself with the specificities brought by the integration of the Japanese brand's engine.

The distribution of masses or the different aerodynamics of the Chevrolet kit required an adaptation on the part of the Chip Ganassi Racing engineers, for this session which replaces the one initially planned for December 9, canceled due to rain.

“We had to relearn a lot of things already integrated, explains Mike Hull, general manager of the team on the site of IndyCar Series. We have completely redesigned the shock absorber program.

The engineers had to agree on what we should try, as opposed to what has worked for us the last three years. You have to have that open-minded aspect of what you're going to do when you change products and that's what we did. »
