IndyCar – Helio Castroneves on pole at Barber

Helio Castroneves took pole for the Alabama GP held at Barber Motorsports Park in front of his teammates Will Power and simon pagenaud. By completing a lap in 1'07"192 in Fast Six, the final qualifying session, the Team Penske driver secured first place on the grid with a lead of almost 2 tenths over the reigning champion. The Frenchman completed the top three by more than 4 tenths.

Scott Dixon (Chip Ganassi Racing), winner last weekend in Long Beach (California), once again placed himself at the forefront by taking 4th place ahead of Josef Newgarden (CFH Racing) and Tony Kanaan (Chip Ganassi Racing). Sebastian Bourdais (KVSH Racing) will start from 7th place.

Juan-Pablo Montoya (Team Penske), the leader of the Championship, however missed his qualifying and will only start from 15th position. For his first steps in IndyCar, Rodolfo Gonzalez (Dale Coyne Racing) will start 21st.

The Alabama GP will be broadcast live on Canal+ Sport from 21:25 p.m.
