IndyCar – Hunter-Reay winner, Wilson evacuated

The victory of Ryan Hunter-Reay (Andretti Autosport? Honda) at the Tricky Triangle of Pocono in Pennsylvania will not be celebrated as it should be by the clan of Michael Andretti's team.

With around twenty laps to go, leader Sage Karam (Chip Ganassi Racing – Chevrolet) made a mistake. In the process, Justin Wilson's car (Andretti Autosport) appears to have been hit by debris near the driver's helmet, the latter ending its course in the wall.

The British pilot was evacuated to Lehigh Valley Health Network Cedar Crest Hospital via helicopter following a head injury. No further information has been released at this time by officials.IndyCar or members of the Andretti team on his precise state of health. Sage Karam suffers from his right foot.

On the racing side, these 500 miles of Pocono were marked by numerous accidents, including those of Sébastien Bourdais (KVSH Racing? Chevrolet) or the incident involving Graham rahal (Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing? Honda), second in the championship before this meeting, and who lost valuable points in the title race, and Tristan Vautier (Dale Coyne Racing? Honda).

In the end, Ryan Hunter-Reay, who had taken the lead at the restart seven laps from the goal, won under a yellow flag, the race having been interrupted following a mechanical problem for Gabby Chaves (Bryan Herta Autosport? Honda) . The 2012 champion is ahead of Josef Newgarden (CHF Racing? Chevolet), Juan-Pablo Montoya (Team Penske? Chevrolet) and Will Power (Team Penske). simon pagenaud (Team Penske), long at the forefront, finished seventh.
