IndyCar – Jacques Villeneuve and Kurt Busch fit for the Indy 500

They will be two of the attractions of the 98th edition of the Indianapolis 500 on May 25. Jacques Villeneuve, former world champion of F1 in 1997 and winner of the Indy 500 in 1995, and Kurt Busch, champion NASCAR in 2004, will take part in the first test sessions of the American classic. Both drivers successfully passed a test (the Refresher Program) yesterday, consisting of a series of 10 laps at set speeds. But, with Busch having completed the Rookie Orientation Program last year and Villeneuve as a past winner, only had to complete the last two sessions, not the entire program. Kyle's brother completed his fastest lap in 220,844 mph, while the current F1 commentator on Canal + clocked 217,742 mph. The session was also interrupted prematurely by the arrival of rain.

Villeneuve and Busch therefore successfully completed this first step before being able to take part in the first tests. They will be entered respectively with Schmidt Peterson Motorsports and Andretti Autosport. Busch will also race in NASCAR the same day at the Coca-Cola 600 in Charlotte.
