Sage karam set the benchmark time for Indy 500 testing ahead of his teammates Scott Dixon et Tony Canaan at the end of a session interrupted by rain. The driver of the No. 8 (Chevrolet) set a time of 39 at an average speed of 857 mph (225,8 km/h), his closest rivals a tenth behind. Marco Andretti (Andretti Autosport) and JR Hildebrand (CFH Racing) completed the top five.

“Performance is not yet significant at the moment. It will be in two weeks,” commented Sage Karam who took 9th place at Indy 500 last year at just 19 years old for his first start in this event. “But it's still nice to discover what it's like to be 1st at this Speedway. »

The teams limited driving due to the wind. Sébastien Bourdais (KVSH Racing) ranked 17th with 34 laps covered while his compatriot simon pagenaud (Team Penske) finished 19th with 31 loops completed. Ryan Hunter-Reay (Andretti Autosport), last winner of the Indy 500, set the 21st time.
