IndyCar – The 2018 road aero kit being tested

The drivers chosen for these tests to take place are Juan Pablo Montoya and Oriol Servia, none of the drivers being involved full-time in the season.IndyCar and thus allowing the holding of 4 test sessions of the new universal aero kit proposed by Dallara for 2018.

The first session took place on July 25 in Indianapolis for the oval configuration. The test carried out this Tuesday at Mid-Ohio concerns the configuration on road, short oval and city circuit.

« We're still looking forward to seeing the new car, explains Montoya. In fact, sometimes the first time we saw the car was at its official presentation. It's like we're even more excited than the media because we have a new toy. It's funny."

The Colombian driver drives during his tests with Penske powered Chevrolet while Servia drives for Schimdt Peterson Motorsport with Honda. The two veterans are used to testing new cars.

« Back then, we used to get a new car every year, recalls the Spaniard. The first day you put the car on the track, we couldn't really call it a real testing day because there was always something that didn't work. It wasn't a very important part of the car overall, but it kept you from driving. »

The remaining two practice sessions will take place on August 10 at Iowa Speedway and September 26 at Sebring International Raceway.
