IndyCar – Lucas Luhr admits to having difficulty adapting

Lucas Luhr did not perform miracles during the first free practice sessions in Sonoma. The driver accustomed to brilliantly defending the colors of Muscle Milk Pickett Racing in the ALMS achieved the worst performance of the peloton at the wheel of the No. 12 Sarah Fisher Hartman Racing DW97, finishing almost two seconds behind the reference time. Despite his experience in motorsport, the German is aware that he has everything to learn from it.IndyCar. “Looking at the position I'm in, it seems like I'm not comfortable yet. It is certainly not easy. It's a new experience quite different from the LMP1 I usually drive. These cars behave in a completely different way. »

However, the Sarah Fisher Hartman Racing resident does not give up and devotes every minute spent on the track to improving his driving. Despite his lack of performance against the rest of the field, the former FIA GT champion intends to make progress over the rest of the weekend. “I continue to progress little by little over the laps completed”, adds Lucas Luhr. “I'm sad at the end of the competitive test because I had just put on new tires when the red flag came out and so we don't know what we are really capable of doing. But I appreciate this discipline. I hope to be able to continue to improve this weekend and I'm looking forward to qualifying and the race. »
