Martin Plowman will be at the start of the Indianapolis Grand Prix (held on May 10 on the infield) and the Indianapolis 500 (May 25) at the wheel of the No. 12 DW41-Honda sponsored by Al-Fe Heat Treating. The reigning LMP2 champion in the Oak Racing Morgan which he shared with Bertrand Baguette and Rodolfo Gonzalez, also winner of the category at 24 Hours of Le Mans, will make his return to the discipline after participating in three events with AFS Racing in 2011. The 26-year-old Briton will take the wheel of his car in two days at Sebring International Raceway.
“I feared I would no longer have the chance to compete and win the Indy 500 when my career took me away from single-seaters,” admitted Martin Plowman. “Winning Le Mans last year was an incredible feeling that can only be beaten one day by the addition of my head to the Borg Warner Trophy (rewarding the winner of the Indianapolis 500). I've lived in Indianapolis for the last five years and my absolute dream is to make it here. » The Briton also had a word for the director of the eponymous team which won four times at the Indy 500. “AJ Foyt is one of the greatest drivers of his generation and someone I admire enormously. It will be an honor for me to represent his team in May. »
