IndyCar – Mid-Ohio: Charlie Kimball, first!

With a well-executed three-stop strategy, Charlie Kimball and simon pagenaud quickly gained an advantage over early race leaders Ryan Hunter-Reay, Will Power and Scott Dixon, who opted for a two-stop strategy. The American and the Frenchman, then alone in the world, then engaged in a splendid duel for victory.

At the end of his last stop, Simon Pagenaud emerges just ahead of his rival. But the latter takes advantage of tires already at temperature to gain the upper hand and regain the lead of the race. The driver of the Dallara DW12-Honda of Chip Ganassi Racing in the colors of Novo Nordisk will not let go, going to win, without firing a shot, his first victory in IndyCar Series.

For Simon Pagenaud, this is the second podium of the season after his victory acquired in June during the second event of the Detroit meeting. Thanks to this result, the Poitevin du Schmidt Hamilton Motorsports consolidates its 5th place in the general classification. His compatriots Sébastien Bourdais (Dragon Racing) and Tristan Vautier (Schmidt Peterson Motorsports) finished 12th and 21st respectively.

The podium is completed by the Scotsman Dario Franchitti (Target Chip Ganassi Racing), whose strategy was similar to those of the two men preceding him. Followed by Will Power (Team Penske), Ryan Hunter-Reay (Andretti Autosport), Helio Castroneves (Team Penske) and Scott Dixon. Castroneves therefore does not carry out such a bad operation as the Brazilian retains his place as leader in the championship.
