IndyCar – Mikhail Aleshin taken to hospital

Russian Schmidt Peterson Motorsports driver Mikhail Aleshin suffered a violent crash yesterday during the final free practice session at Fontana. He suffered a broken collarbone and ribs.

IndyCar – Mikhail Aleshin taken to hospital

After the qualifying session held yesterday on the Fontana oval in California, scene of the final round of theIndyCar 2014 drivers took part in the final free practice session before tonight's race. A session during which Russian driver Mikhail Aleshin (Schmidt Peterson Motorsports – Honda) suffered a violent crash. Aleshin spun before hitting the car from Charlie Kimball (Team Ganassi – Chevrolet) who arrived launched. The SPM DW12 flew into the protective fences before finishing its race on the circuit. Evacuated to Loma Linda University Medical Center, the Russian suffered a broken collarbone, broken ribs, a concussion and chest trauma. His condition is serious, but stable according to doctors and the pilot was conscious at the time of his evacuation. For his part, Charlie Kimball was examined at the circuit's medical center, and was immediately released and allowed to race.
